God Is In Control – Inauguration Day 2017

There is always anxiety when a new President of the United States takes office. Unknowns, excitement and fear seem to dominate the minds of most Americans. Today is one of those days. Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45 President. There seems to be all kinds of opinions ranging across the gamut. One thing we all need to remember is that God is in control.

Romans 13:1-3 says “1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.”

I always remember the words of Daniel 2:21 that say “And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise”

If God is in control, why do we have anxiety over a new Presidency? Perhaps its our human nature coming through. Perhaps we get caught up in our own interests too much or our own party’s platform. In any situation, this isn’t what God wants.

We have the freedom to protest and speak out. That is our very first amendment. I believe it’s perfectly fine to speak against something the President does, but it has to be tactful. Marches in Washington D.C. can be perfectly fine, and even sometimes the normalcy of the city, but we must keep things civil, peaceful and avoid any kind of hatred against others.

Pray for the President. Pray that God gives him the wisdom and strength to carry out the job in His glory.

Today when you’re discussing the inauguration, do so with a calm tongue. We’re all in this together, and God’s plan is in place. There will always be differences of opinions. There will always be different perspectives. Let’s discuss things, figure out how to peaceful speak against things we see wrong, and stand as a strong nation full of love as God intended.
